Many caregivers provide loved ones with round-the-clock care from support with dressing, toileting and preparing meals to help with medications, walking and companionship. At times, being a caregiver can be both exhausting and overwhelming. Respite offers caregivers a chance to get some much-needed relief from their caregiving responsibilities for a few hours, a few days, or a couple of weeks, by temporarily placing the care of their loved one in the hands of trained and caring staff.
The Caregiver Respite Program connects caregivers, or service providers seeking to support caregivers, with the respite services and resources they need to help them be at their best as caregivers so that they can keep their loved ones at home as long as possible.
Respite services are provided by a team of health service providers dedicated to delivering flexible, person-centred care that meets the needs of both caregivers and their loved ones. The services provided through the Caregiver Respite Program are funded by the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network.
