“Caregiving is a 24/7 job and you can’t remain immersed in that environment all the time. You need time for yourself, even if it’s just to go grocery shopping.”
- Carmel Milakovich, caregiver for her husband, John
“It’s a great program. You get your life back for a short period of time. We have more energy.”
- Joe Mele, caregiver for mom
“Without Caregiver ReCharge, I don’t know how I’d function. I’m so exhausted. They go above and beyond for both me and my mother.”
- Carolyn Mastrotucci, caregiver for her mom, Norma
Many caregivers provide loved ones with round-the-clock care from support with dressing, toileting and preparing meals to help with medications, walking and companionship. At times, being a caregiver can be both exhausting and overwhelming. Respite offers caregivers a chance to get some much-needed relief from their caregiving responsibilities for a few hours, a few days, or a couple of weeks, by temporarily placing the care of their loved one in the hands of trained and caring staff.
The Caregiver Respite Program connects caregivers, or service providers seeking to support caregivers, with the respite services and resources they need to help them be at their best as caregivers so that they can keep their loved ones at home as long as possible.
